Welcome!

Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog. I'm mainly interested in issues related to second language writing.  I am looking forward in sharing with you guys pedagogical issues related to multilingual writers.

My name is Anna-Liisa Ihuhwa. I am currently in my final year of my MA in Applied Linguistics, my emphases is on TESOL. I am a Fulbright scholar original form Namibia, South West Africa. I myself am a multilingual writer, and I know how hard and challenging it can be for one to write in a second or third language. I write in three languages namely: OShiwambo, Afrikaans and English. In my Seven years of teaching English as a second language to multilingual students I began to have special interest in issues related to multilingual writers such as, writing strategies , error correction, developing writing materials for multilingual writers and ESL teacher development.

As an ESL teacher I am faced with numerous pedagogical decisions I have to make while teaching multilingual students. Some of the decisions are based on personal intuition, personal research or advisor from colleagues. Through the reading and discussion in this blog, I am hoping to gain in-depth knowledge on the necessary tools that one can use to successfully teach writing to multilingual writers. I am also hoping to gain insight information as to what kinds of professional development are most effective in improving ESL teacher practice.
